The Isles
The isles of Giglio and Giannutri are the ideal places for those who love sea and nature. They are surrounded by crystal clear water and the isles are covered with vines and olive trees which make up the typical country side of the Maremma region.
Isle of Giglio
Ferryboats sailing from Porto Santo Stefano connect the Isle of Giglio in about one hour. The island is appreciated for its beautiful beaches, some quite popular(Campese Beach), others more out of hand and quiet (Cala delle Caldane)
Here it is possible to practice many different sports: guided scuba diving, windsurf, swimming school, tennis, horse riding and bird watching.
The hinterland is highly appreciated by those who love to go walking or trekking, either following the many practicable paths and botanic routes that spread all around the island, or venturing at the discovery of a still uncontaminated nature.
Isle of Giannutri
For those who want to discover wilder and even more untouched sceneries, the chance to pay a visit to the Isle of Giannutri cannot be missed. The island is the southernmost of the Archipelago of Tuscany, and it is 18 km away from the Isle of Giglio.
Giannutri looks inaccessible, with its rocks tumbling down to the sea.
The docks are Cala Spalmatoio and Cala Maestra, where the ruins of a big Roman villa rise (II century A.C.).
In the island is possible to walk and explore its most inaccessible spots, and from the top of Mt. Mario, the highest peak, enjoy the splendid panoramic view over the sea and the closest islands.
